WHAT IS A BUILDING ENERGY RATING or BER CERTIFICATE?
A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate indicates a building’s energy performance, similar to the energy label for household appliances. The certificate rates a buildings energy performance on a scale of A-G with the most energy efficient buildings being A1 rated, these buildings tend to have the lowest energy bills. G rated buildings are the least energy efficient. BER certs are valid for 10 years.
WHO NEEDS A BUILDING ENERGY RATING or BER CERTIFICATE?
When a property is put up for sale or to let the vendor is legally required to provide a BER certificate for that property. A BER certificate must also be provided before a new home is occupied for the first time.
WHO CARRIES OUT A BER ASSESSMENT?
Building Energy Rating assessments are carried out by a registered BER Assessor. Principal Environmental are SEAI registered and all our surveyors trained to the highest standard.
